Thank you for your request to the Welsh Government for information under the Freedom of Information Act (2000) received on 7 February. You requested information relating to:

How much Welsh Government and TV Licence Fee funding has been awarded to S4C and Radio Cymru since 2000.

Our response

We have reviewed our financial records and can confirm a total of £170,117.08 has been paid to S4C by the Welsh Government since 2000. Our financial records indicate that no payments have been made to Radio Cymru from the Welsh Government during that period.

In terms of TV Licence Fee subsidies to both S4C and Radio Cymru, this information is not held by the Welsh Government as the TV Licence Fee is a non-devolved matter, and therefore a matter for the UK Government. Further information on TV Licence Fee subsidies is available from the BBC and S4C’s published annual accounts and we would advise that you contact both directly for this information or review the annual accounts available through the following links:
